Moving and Living in Dubai

One of the friendliest and livable cities in the Middle East, Dubai is one of the world’s top cities for expats. As of 2017 report, more than 91 percent of the populations of nearly three million are expatriates, who are business owners or working for a company. The numbers are expected to increase now that Dubai Government has offered a 5-year residence visa for expat retirees over the age of 55 years under certain terms and conditions.

So before you pack your belongings and kiss your birth country goodbye, temporarily or permanently, it would be best to plan ahead. Most expats started with leasing, and then eventually bought properties in the freehold areas in Dubai after living here for some time.

Dubai offers all types of housing, from the most affordable to the most luxurious. The views add value to the unit which means you will be paying more if you want unobstructed and panoramic views. Check out Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Umm Suqeim for residences with sea views.

If you are within a budget, you can start living in apartments. Check out Deira, Bur Dubai and Karama, or popularly known as the Old Dubai offering the most affordable rents, these areas have schools with low tuition fees and surrounded by parks.

Luxurious apartments can be found in Downtown Dubai, an upbeat and sophisticated urban community beside the tallest tower in the world, Burj Khalifa. Find apartments with the view of the iconic Dubai Canal in Business Bay.

For more privacy and bigger spaces, opt for villas in Dubai. Popular areas for villas are Mirdif, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Furjan and Al Barsha as they offer lower prices.

For mid-range budgets, check out the townhouses and villas in Emirates Living which are just a few minutes away from Media City, JLT and Mall of the Emirates. Emirates Living has five thematic sub-communities with private backyards, barbeque areas, and bigger terraces. Residents have access to exclusive sports facilities, golf club and community retail centres.

Al Barari, Arabian Ranches and Jumeirah Golf Estates are some the most expensive villa communities In Dubai. These have bigger plots, customized architecture and resort-type aside from being surrounded by lush greenery. They are a bit far from the city but you will enjoy tranquility, space and greenery.

The Palm Jumeirah, one of the famous landmarks of Dubai has a palm tree shape that allowed each villa to have its private beach front. That is why it’s one of the most popular luxurious communities in Dubai.

There are upcoming stylish and innovative developments you should watch out for as they will surely change Dubai landscape. These are Dubai Creek Harbour, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City (MBR City), Damac Hills, Dubai South and Marsa Meydan.
